Cañeros and Mayos splitted victories in a doubleheader yesterday as Cañeros knocked first 4-1 qith NICK MATTIONI tossing a 1 hitter game over 6 innings pitched off loser TAVO ALVAREZ and supported by a 3 runs homer by RAMON ORANTES.
For the second game, Mayos come from behind and won 7-6 with LUIS ALONSO MENDOZA getting the win in relief and MARCUS GWYNN who blewed another game, took the lost.
Navojoa entered the 7th behind 0-5, when they rallied a winning 6 runs rally crowned by a 2GWRBI double by Obregonian JOSE MANUEL ESPINOZA.
Mendoza a Boston farmhand, picked his first ever win in the MexPac.
For Mochis, CALVIN PICKERING, RAMON ORANTES ( HIT 2) and HERNANDO ARREDONDO went deep.

Hermosillo won 10-3 to Culiacán with Arizona pitcher EDGAR GONZALEZ performing well over 5 innings pitched, allowing only one hit in his debut and hot hitter and new league leader in batting, HR´s and RBI .LUIS ALFONSO GARCIA provided all the support he needed.

Yaquis got the game of honor, beating Venados 5 -1 with JESUS AURELIO RODRIGUEZ winning off PABLO ORTEGA.
Finally Obregon had a good relief work to save the game, after being the Achilles tendon in last games.
They have to use as many of 5 pitchers to hold up Venados threat.

Mexicali by winnig the double header not only left series at home, but also the top position formerly held by Cottoneers, and confirming that they must be considered a serious contender to the title, they lost last year against Venados.
In the first game, CLAUDIO MORENO outdueled LUIS CARLOS RIVERA and beat him 5-1 and as for the second game , MexIcali showed no respect to dependable hurler EDGAR LEYVA then league´s top ERA spotter, and stamped hih with 6 runs in just 2 innings, two of those after homers by CARLOS SIEVERS and hometown boy, CHRISTIAN PRESICHI to finnally ende up with a 9-1 victory.
