Taiwan Baseball News: Elephants Continue Hot Streak - Post All-Star Break

The all-star break is finally over in the Chinese Professional Baseball League and the Brother Elephants continued their hot streak to begin the second-half as they shutout the Makoto Gida 3-0 last night before 2,556 fans at Taichung Stadium to improve to 8-2-0.
Elephants starter Chun-yi Wu (5-1-0) pitched seven shutout innings, scattering only four hits while walking three and striking out four en route to picking up the win and being named the Game's MVP.
His performance was especially important because the Elephants led 1-0 all the way until the top half of the ninth inning when they scored to runs off Jesus Pena. Ching-li Wang pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his fourth save of the season for the winners.
Elephants all-start center fielder Chih-yuen Chen went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs after coming back from the 2003 2003 All-Star Game.
The Gida welcomed back short stop Osmani Estrada back to the 25-man roster and starting lineup and he went 1-for-4 with a double.
Shih-ching Tsai (5-8-0) surrendered one run, which was earned, on two hits to pick up the loss for the Gida.
