China Trust Whales 2 Sinon Bulls 3
There maybe gambling problems here in Taiwan but there are no problems with corked bats. Sinon Bulls third baseman Tai-shan Chang belted his 17th home run of the 2003 Chinese Professional Baseball League season as the Bulls beat the China Trust Whales 3-2 before 3,212 fans at Taichung Stadium.
Chang, the man with pure power, was named the Game's MVP as he went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. His homer was off of Whales starter Chien-san Kao, who only gave up that run in six innings of work. Kao scattered four hits, walked one and struck out three batters in picking up a no-decision.
Bulls second baseman Chang-yi Huang went 1-for-3 with one run plated as he scored on Tai-shan Chang's two-run bomb. Short stop Jau-han Cheng finished the evening 1-for-4 with a two-bagger and one RBI while left fielder Song-yong Luo went 2-for-4.
Jeffrey Andra started for the Bulls and gave up one run, which was not earned, in five frames of work. He scattered four hits, walked four and fanned three. Dominican native Ramon Morel pitched one scoreless inning for his 14th save of the year. He struck out two.
For the Whales, pinch-hitter Chien-wei Chen went 1-for-1 with a RBI while designated hitter Chi-fong Hung finished at 1-for-3.
American native Derek Hasselhoff picked up his second loss for the Whales since joining the club as he surrendered two runs, both earned, in no innings. He allowed a walk and a base hit to two batters.
