Taiwan Baseball News: Agan Show Hint Of Promise

Makoto Gida 1 First Securities Agan 3
Maybe the First Securities Agan do have some skill. They got clutch hitting and clutch pitching last night at Kaoshung Stadium as they dumped the Makoto Gida 3-1 before a crowd of just 725.
First baseman Hung-jeh Tsai had an RBI double for his only hit in four at-bats to lead the Agan as he was named the Game's MVP. He also came around to score an out later when left fielder Long-yi Huang drove him in. Leadoff man Jun-hsiung Lu in right fielder went 3-for-4 with a double and one run plated.
In terms of pitching, the Agan got it from Claudio Galva who went seven strong innings and gave up just one earned run on six hits. But it was Dominican native Gabriel Ozura (1-4-0) who ended up with the win as he pitched one flawless inning in relief.
Gida starter Chi-chia Yang matched Galva pitch-for-pitch through 6 2/3 innings as he also surrendered one run, earned, on six hits. Shih-ching Tsai gave up two runs, all earned, on three hits in 1 1/3 innings to pick up the loss to drop to 5-7-0.
Center fielder Kao-chung Huang finished the evening 2-for-4 for the Gida while right fielder Cheng-han Wu went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. First baseman Jia-hsian Hsieh drove Wu in with an RBI single, his only hit in four at-bats. Chin-yi Cheng had a hit in his pinch-hit appearance.
CPBL NOTE: Last week, Sinon Bulls pitcher Osvaldo Martinez struck out seven batters in a row to set a new Chinese Professional Baseball League record. The previous record was six in a row, which had managed to stand for 13 years.
