The gamblers will be upset about this one!
The First Securities Agan pulled off a big upset as they squeezed past the Chinese Professional Baseball League-leading Sinon Bulls last night at Kaoshung Stadium by a score of 3-2 in front of 2,168 shocked onlookers. It was the Agan's tenth win of the season.
Newly acquired American native Benjamin Burlingame went five solid innings for the Agan to pick up the win to improve to 1-0-0. He gave up one run, earned, on one hit and four walks. Burlingame struck out two.
Burlingame outdueled Bulls starter Osvaldo Martinez, one of the best in the CPBL as Martinez surrendered all three of the Agan runs in six innings of work. He scattered six hits, walked one and struck out six.
Two of the three runs surrendered by Martinez were solo home runs, including one by Agan right fielder Long-yi Huang, his first of the year. Huang finished 2-for-3.

President Lions 10 China Trust Whales 6
The President Lions jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top half of the first inning only to have American native Joe Davenport quickly surrender four runs, all earned, to tie it but the Leos overcame that to defeat the China Trust Whales 10-6 last night before 2,097 fans at Shingcung Stadium.
Davenport ended up being pulled after two innings in which he scattered three hits, walked four and struck out one.
The Lions bats came alive last night as left fielder Hung-yuan Lin hit his seventh home run of the 2003 Chinese Professional Baseball League season off Whales starter Cheng-hsun Hsieh, who picked up the loss and fell to 4-4-0. Lin finished 1-for-4 after the two-run bomb while Hsieh gave up seven runs, all earned, in 5 2/3 innings. He scattered ten hits, walked one and fanned five batters. Lions center patroller Kang-ling Huang went 2-for-5 with one run scored and had one RBI while first baseman/left fielder Chuan-jia Wang finished at 2-for-4 with a double with one run scored. Designated hitter Lien-hung Chen went 2-for-5 with one run plated and another driven in and Japanese second baseman Hiroaki Yoshimi went 2-for-4 with one RBI batting in the No. 9 hole.
Meanwhile, for the 26-20-5 Whales, first baseman Chi-fong Hung and Dominican third baseman Juan Melo each went 1-for-4 but Melo had one run scored and one RBI. Hung's hit was a two-bagger and he came around to score. Second baseman/short stop Yueh-liang Lin went 2-for-4 with one run plated.

I believe there are such opportunities (for example, with Baseball America). I received an email from a reporter from Baseball America who writes on Taiwanese baseball. Baseball America is the only website that I know of that has English-speaking journalists writing on Taiwanese baseball.

Are there opportunities for English-speaking journalists to report on baseball as a full-time job or as correspondent in Taiwan? If so, what are the best step-by-step suggestions to acheive this goal? Thank you for your feedback.
