Korea Baseball News: Lee Dials Up Homers To Power Samsung To Victory

Samsung Lions 4 Kia Tigers 2
In Taegu yesterday, Seung-yeop Lee belted two home runs to lead the Samsung Lions to a 4-2 doubling of the Kia Tigers. With three home runs in back-to-back games, Lee now leads the Korea Baseball Organization in homers with six. His teammate Hae-young Ma is one back.
Chang-yong Lim gave up two runs in 6 2/3 innings to pick up the win for the Lions, who improved to 12-1-0. Lim improved to 3-0. Lim struck out eight Tigers while walking two and scattering four hits. Closer Jang-jin Noh pitched scoreless 2 1/3 innings to pickup his third save of the 2003 season.
With the defeat, the Tigers fell to 10-4-0 and are two games back of the league-leading Lions.
Hyundai Unicorns 6 Hanhwa Eagles 3
Rookie catcher Taek-keun Lee hit a two-run home run in his KBO debut as the Hyundai Unicorns doubled the Hanhwa Eagles 6-3 yesterday.
Unicorns' starter Min-tae Chong improved to 3-0 as he gave up one run in five innings. Yong-joon Cho picked up his fifth save of the year with a flawless 1 1/3 innings of work.
The Unicorns improved to 9-5-1 while the Eagles flew down to 6-9-1.
Lotte Giants 5 SK Wyverns 3
The Lotte Giants picked up their second win of the season as they dumped the SK Wyverns 5-3 yesterday in Pusan.
Giants' starter Jong-seok Yeom was able to pick up his first victory of the season, pitching six innings, giving up one run. Yeom improved to 1-3.
With the victory, the Giants peaked to 2-12-1 while the Wyverns fell to 7-6-0.
Doosan Bears 2 LG Twins 0
Kyung-pil Lee shutout the LG Twins yesterday as the Doosan Bears won 2-0. Lee pitched shutout baseball for six innings to improve to 2-1 on the year. The KBO's first Japanese pitcher Satoshi Iriki picked up his first save of the season with 2 2/3 innings behind Lee.
The Bears improved to 2-13-0 but are still in last place. With the loss, the Twins fell to 8-6-1.
