Taiwan Baseball News: Big Night For Big Man

President Lions 9 Makoto Gida 4
Hung-yuan Lin hit his fifth home run of the season to help the President Lions to a 9-4 win over the Makoto Gida last night before a sparse 1,152 fans at Tainan Stadium. The left fielder went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs and was named the Game MVP.
His supporting cast included designated hitter Lien-hung Chen, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and first baseman Chuan-jia Wang, who finished the night 1-for-3 while scoring once. Wang was the Game MVP two nights ago.
Lions' starter Joe Davenport pitched seven innings, giving up four runs, three earned, to improve to a league-leading 7-0-0. Relievers Yang-kai Chen and Jung-yang Tsao each pitched scoreless innings to close things out for the Leos, who are now 1.5 games ahead of the second-place Sinon Bulls. The Bulls will host the Brother Elephants tonight at 6:35 p.m. (Taiwan time).
American native Ned Daley picked up the loss for the Gida after giving up six runs, four earned, in only 1 2/3 innings in relief. Daley dropped to 0-1-0. Fellow reliever Ming-chin Lee gave up two runs, one earned, in 1/3 innings.
The Lions improved to 19-6-0 while the Gida dropped to 9-16-0.
