First Securities Agan 0 China Trust Whales 16
This game was just plain ugly. Did the fans already know it was going to turn out this way? Only 796 fans showed up at Shingcung Stadium last night to watch the China Trust Whales lay waste to the First Securities Agan 16-0.
The Agan only manufactured two hits off Whales' pitching but the Whales shelled the Agan with 20 hits. Whales' center fielder Song-hsuen Yang went 1-for-2 with one run scored and two RBIs while second baseman Yueh-liang Lin 3-for-4 with two runs and RBI.
Venezuelan native John Acosta was rocked for six runs, five earned, in only two innings for the Agan, who dropped to 6-18-0. Acosta fell to 0-4-0 and now sports a 6.98 ERA. Wen-hsiung Hsu came in in long-relief but gave up four earned runs in one inning.
The Whales improved to 13-10-1 and are five games back of the Chinese Professional Baseball League-leading President Lions.
The Agan and Whales go at it again tonight at Shingcung Stadium (6:35 p.m. Taiwan time).

Brother Elephants 3 Sinon Bulls 2
With ample opportunity to climb within 0.5 games of the CPBL-leading President Lions, the Sinon Bulls were beaten 3-2 by the Brother Elephants last night in front of 5,651 captivated onlookers at Shingchu Stadium.
It started as a pitching duel but the relievers got into the game soon after with Elephants' Ruen-win Hsiao pitching one scoreless inning to get his first save of the season as the Elephants beat the Sinon Bulls 3-2. Bulls' reliever Wen-pin Hsu went three innings, giving up one run, which was earned, to pick up the loss and he fell to 1-1-0.
Elephants' short stop Rue-chang Chen went 2-for-4 with one RBI to lead the winners, who improved to 9-15-1. With the defeat, the Bulls fell to 16-7-0 and are now two games back of the Leos.
