Former Yokohama Bay Stars' starter Shane Bowers gave up one run, earned, in 7 2/3 innings as the Samsung Lions finally lost, 5-1 to the Hyundai Unicorns.
Soong-yong Lee hit a two-run home run to snap the Leos' 10-game winning streak to begin the 2003 Korea Baseball Organziation season, a new record.
Samsung is now 11-1-0 while Hyundai is 7-5-1 and four games back of the league leaders.
Hanhwa Eagles 6 Doosan Bears 5
Ji-man Song stroked a game-winning double off Japanese closer Satoshi Iriki to hand the Doosan Bears their 12th loss of the season, 6-5.
In the ninth inning, Iriki gave up a free pass to left fielder Young-woo Lee, who later scored on Song's double.
The Eagles improved to .500 at 6-6-1 while the Bears crawled to 1-12-0.
LG Twins 5 Lotte Giants 0
The Lotte Giants have now lost 12 in a row to start the season. Well, at least they have a tie. The Giants fell to 0-12-1 yesterday as the LG Twins blanked them 5-0 in Chamsil.
The Giants have been shutout for 30 consecutive innings including six games. The Twins improved to 7-4-1.
Kia Tigers 2 SK Wyverns 1 (10 innings)
It took a while but last season's batting champion Sung-ho Jung hit a two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Kia Tigers to a 2-1 squeaker over the SK Wyverns in Kwangju yesterday.
With the win, the Tigers improved their record to 10-3-0 and are now one game back of the Lions, who lost yesterday. The Wyverns fell to 7-5-0 and failed to gain ground.
