Taiwan Baseball News: "Masterful Performance" by Joe Davenport

China Trust Whales 0 President Lions 7
"Masterful Performance" by Joe Davenport. American native Joe Davenport wrote his own story last night, complete with everything that he wanted to happen. He stymied the China Trust Whales while throwing only 89 pitches to help the President Lions beat the Whales 7-0 at Tainan. The crowd of 2,275 was in absolute awe of Davenport's performance as he was named the Game MVP. He improved to 1-1.
Davenport was helped by designated hitter Lien-hung Chen's home run as he finished the night 2-for-4 with one run scored and three RBIs. First baseman Chuan-jia Wang went 2-for-4 with one run and two RBIs and rounding out the heart of the order, left fielder Hung-yuan Lin went 2-for-4 with one run scored.
The Whales only mustered five measly hits with center fielder Song-hsuen Yang going 1-for-3 and third baseman Chien-wei Chen also went 1-for-3.
The Lions are now 1.5 games up on the second-place Sinon Bulls, who sport a 14-6-0 record after losing 7-5 to the First Securities Agan at Shingchu last night.The Leos are 16-5-0. The Whales fell to 11-9-1 and dropped to 4.5 games back of the league-leading Lions.
The Whales will play the Lions again tonight at 6:35 p.m. (Taiwan time) at Tainan.
