COMEBACK IN D.C.

Nats’ Bergmann was showing his stuff:
rising fastball, sinking changeup, I’m telling you, guys, he was tough.
Meanwhile, Phils’ Lohse stunk up the place,
a two-inning, six-run disgrace.
After that it’s fair to give thanks,
to much-maligned bullpen — seven innings of blanks.
Against Nats’ pen in the seventh, Phils pulled out their come-from-behind text,
beat up Ayala, Archie Muños, and whoever came next.
Jayson Werth, a three-run pinch-hit, upper deck bomb,
Jimmie Rollins with his usual aplomb
doubled, scored tying run in seventh inning,
doubled to drive in eighth inning run for Phils’ winning.
Romero, Gordon, and Myers tied it down,
Can-you-believe-it, Harry? pinches all over town.

Thursday, September 20, 2007. RFK Stadium, Washington, D.C.
Philadelphia – 7, Washington – 6.
WP – Romero (1-2), LP – Albaladejo (1-1).
BS – Muñoz (1). H – Gordon (10). S – Myers (18).
HR – Howard (41), 1st, 1 on, 2 out; Werth (7), 7th, 2 on, 0 out.
