VIVA BEISBOL

CAROLINA, PR – The schedule for the 2007 Caribbean Series has finally been released. The event will open Friday, February 2 with a 4:00PM game between the Dominican Republic and Venezuela with a closing game set for Wednesday, February 7 with an 8:00PM contest between the Dominicans and host Puerto Rico. If necessary, a tiebreaker game will be played February 8.

All games will be played at Roberto Clemente Walker Stadium in Carolina (a suburb of San Juan), which is undergoing a $1.8 million renovation. Games will be played daily at 4 and 8PM, with Puerto Rico playing the nightcap all six days. Tickets will range from 15 to 60 dollars per game.

The CS has retained its four-nation format, but that may change. Both Colombia and Nicaragua have applied to join the competition. There had also been some hope that Cuba would apply as well, but that has not happened.
