Dragons vs. Fighters in Japan Series 2006

By Glenn Davies,Tokyo Japan.

The Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters will play the Chunichi Dragons in the Japan Series starting October 21st 2006.

The Fighters won their way there in style with walk off win over perennial favorites Softbank in the final PL playoff round. This gave the Fighters their first PL pennant in 25 years (and third overall).

The Dragons wound up their first place season with ace Kenshin Kawakami picking up his career-high 17th win after
working three shutout innings in relief in a win over the Baystars.Kawakami finished 17-7 (2.51) on the year. The Dragons clinched their 7th CL title and  last won the title in 2004.

The Dragons will be the hot favourites with the experienced lineup including many that played on the 2004 championship team.

Ex-major leaguer and exhibitionist Tsuyoshi Shinjyo will be hoping to end his career with a win for the Fighters and yet more time in the limelight?
