Phillies Journal - 2006

by Max Blue

Crowd came to its feet with a roar,
like surf crashing on south Jersey shore.
Chase Utley has joined the attack,
from now on no holding us back,
A tenth inning walk-off! More! More! More!

Cole Hamels was great, but not great enough;
homers to Jimerson and Huff.
Ryan Howard did it again;
the guy must be practicing Zen.
Nice win, team; that’s the stuff!

Monday, September 4, 2006. Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia – 3, Houston – 2.
WP – White (3-1). LP – Borkowski (1-2).
HR – Jimerson (1), Huff \(8).
Howard (53), Utley (25).

When the going gets tough
the tough get going...
They show the "right" stuff
fielding hitting and throwing...
With the schedule ahead that is easy to botch...
The boys nave to kick it another notch...
Yesterdays glory
is just an old story...
Fun and exciting
and very inviting...
To levels above...
So give it a shove...
Turn up the heat
and we won't be beat...
