Japanese Baseball News: Update
Central League News | ||
The Dragons continued to add daylight to their lead in the CL over the past weeks. The Dragons swept the Tigers, outscoring them 27-8 in the process and all but signaling the end of Hanshin's chances of overtaking them this year. The Dragons were runners up last year and last went to the Japan series in 2004 and won it all. No other CL team has really made much of a push these past weeks, the Giants are playing better but have dug themselves such a hole that they are likely playing for third at best.
Pacific League News | ||
The Hawks are making their play for the pennant and have come back to tie the PL lead with the Lions. The Hawks face the Lions for a three game series on August 18th-20th and the series will likely sort out who will finish in first and who plays in the first play-off round. The Fighters have looked strong over the past weeks and its possible that they will beat out Bobby Valentines Marines for the 3rd and final playoff spot. However the fighters were unable to take more than one game from each of the Lions and Hawks in two three game series played this past week and may not have enough to make it far in the post season.
