Japanese Baseball: All-Star Series

 

The Japanese baseball All Star  Series (2 games) was played over this past weekend.  Game one was played in Tokyo at Jingu stadium, home of the Yakult Swallows, an open air 80 year old stadium and game two at Sunmarine Stadium Miyazaki.

Game One: Central League 3 Pacific League 1

 Yakult outfielder Norichika Aoki played the hero and broke open a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the third with a Homer off former Met Masato Yoshii (Now with the Orix Buffaloes).The Swallows outfielder was named the game's MVP, collecting 2 million yen in cash.The Pacific League got its run from a Tomoya Satozaki (Chiba) Homer, Satozaki was the catcher for team Japan at the WBC earlier this year. Satozaki went yard off Chunichi ace starter Kenshin Kawakami.

Reliever Marc Kroon of the BayStars came on to close out the win and  Five of his six pitches hit 159 kph on the speed
gun.

Game One: Central League 7 Pacific League 4

Game 2 MVP was Atsushi Fujimoto of the Hanshin Tigers after he knocked two on a single in the eighth inning to help lift the CL to victory.

Former Cincinnati Red Alex Ochoa was 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs, and former Devil Ray Andy Sheets had three hits--including a solo homer.

Marc Kroon again came out to record the save and set an All-Star competition with a 160 kph fastball in the ninth.
