PHILLIES BY A NOSE – A HARD NOSE

How did he hold onto the ball
when his nose crashed into the wall?
Aaron Rowand and the Mets feeling pain,
Game only five due to rain.
Gavin Floyd and Chase Utley also stand tall.

May 11, 2006. Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia – 2, New York – 0. (Five innings- rain)
WP – Floyd (4-2), LP – Trachsel (2-3).
HR – Utley (8).

Well, the Daily News said it best this morning. They had a picture of Aaron Rowand's catch, and the headline "THE WIZARD OF SCHNOZ". Tis a shame he went on the DL though - I'm sure he didn't want to. Also a shame that the Phils didn't install the padding in CF yet that would have possibly saved his nose.

In any case, another fan favorite has been born. Mark my words, Aaron Rowand gets a standing O the next time he comes up to bat.
