Mazatlan 5 Navojoa 2 Pablo Ortega 2 - 1 Mario Mendoza 1 -1
Guasave 7 Hermosillo 0 Edgar Leyva 2 - 1 Sergio Mitre 0-2

Pedro Castellano 3 runs home run in support to winner Pablo led Venados to beat Mayos 5-2 and advanced inseries 2-1 off losing pitcher Mario Mendoza Jr. who pitched a good game but was a victim of Castellanos shot to lose the game

Actually, Mayos outhit Venados 14 to 9, however in the 4th inning, Trenidad Hubbard singled, followed by another single by Miguel Flores then Edgar Gonzalez bunted in a sac bunt, to set the table for Castellanos home run in the very first pitch.
It is hard to hit a home run in this Teodoro Mariscal Stadium, first at all because is a large park, and secondly because seawins blows against the batters, just imagine that only 20 HT has been hit in the regular season , coming 0nly 9 from local batters

Ortega went 7 innings , allowing 12 hits and 2 runs, and reliever Hugo Castellanos, who has been rumoured to go back to the American baseball next summer, worked another inning and closer Mark Worrell closed doors down to pick up his first of the post season.

Edgar Gonzalez had a na excellent game, collecting 2 hits and fielding sensationally at 3B as well as Oscar Robles who had 3 hits, Norris Hopper a 4 hits night and Doug Clark also a 3 hits game.

Today at 5 PM MT, Francisco Campos for Mazatlan and Hansel Izauierdo for Mayos will face for the 4th game of series

In Hermosillo, Edgar Leyva in a inspired night, tossed a one hitter over 7 innings pitched and relievers Sergio Mora and Dale Thayer completed the work to lead Guasave beat Hermosillo 7-0 and take series lead 2-1.

Naranjeros starter Sergio Mitre was a victim of his lack of command walking 6 in only 2 innings, and leaving the game being booed by the attendance with and adverse score of 2-0.

However, Cottoneers put he game in the fridge by scoring 3 runs in the 4th inning in which, Dave Doster who played for Naranjeros for as long as 3 previous seasons singled 2 runners in and right after Mario Valenzuela homered his second shot of post season to make a 5-0 game then.

It was a bitter sweet victory for Guasave since earlier to the game, his best hurler Spike Lundberg left the team, because Los Angeles Dodgers whos just signed him ,wanted to pass a physical in order to be ready for a chance to make the 40 man roster next season.

This afternoon, Ken Ray for Hermosillo will face Luis Carlos Rivera
