Indians gain retribution by lighting up Vizcaino for 6 in the 11th

The Cleveland Indians avoided a series sweep to open their year by bringing their bats to life yesterday winning 11-5 in 11 innings. Coco Crisp, Ronnie Belliard, and Casey Blake all connect for their 1st homeruns of the season in the top of the 9th off Shingo Takatsu to tie the game up at 5-5. The Tribe then used Luis Vizcaino as a BP coach to scatter hits around the field in what amounted to 6 runs in the 11th. Crisp went 4-7 on the day with 2RBI's, while Blake, Belliard, Grady Sizemore and Victor Martinez each had 2 hits and 2 RBI's to show the Indians faithful some of what to expect offensively this year. Arthur Rhodes got the win in relief. Starter Cliff Lee struggled through 3 1/3 innings( 8H, 5ER, 1BB, 4K) while Jose Contreras gave the White Sox a very encouraging outing going six strong innings( 4H, 1ER, 2BB, 4K), which got them both a no decision. For the Sox, A.J. Pierzynski got his first homerun of the season while Tadahito Iguchi went 3-4. Next up for these two teams will have the Tribe heading into a very uplifted Detroit Tiger ballclub, while the White Sox head over to Minnesota.
