It seemed like Mazatlan's seafood went well on Mexicali slugger Charles "Bubba" Smith, because just coming back from there and stopping over in Navojoa to play the Mayos, in the first game of 3 series, he blasted Navojoa's pitching hitting 3 HR's and drove in 7 of the 10 runs scored for the team, and have a good companion on 3B Alex Pelaez (Anaheim), who also went deep twice, and drove in 3.
In a battle for the bottom spot of this round, Navojoa went downer.

Navojoa made a roster move, firing 3B Chris Barnwell and bringing in Venezuelan Pedro Castellano, who has been recently released by La Guaira team in Venezuela, Pedro a star in mexican baseball with Mexico City Red Devilsmainly, will do his debut in winter league, in which some other countrymen have played, like Liu Rodriguez.

In Obregon, local team Yaquis come from behind and took on Hermosillo Orange Growers, thanked to a back to back homers by Andy Tracy (7) and Chris Coste (8) in the bottom of the 8th inning.
A league´s second spotter after Culiacan, Yaquis hold up this place with only 5 games left to play to end up the first round.
They struggled a little bit last week ,by losing series against Cottoneers, and not only that , they also lost Pitcher Chris Gissell who headed back home.
Tracy, a sure shot prospect ton land in Rockies territory next year, has been simply sensational both hitting (.417) and fileding while covering 3B.
SS Javier Robles went 5-3 to improve his leage leading avg. to .377, followed by Mexicali OF Rick Short.367.
Team has announced their intention to strength pitching, and replace Gissell with Andy McGlitchy and lefty Michael Tejera.

On the other side, Hermosillo is getting prepared for the second round, and confirmed that pitchers, Elmer Dessens, Juan Acevedo, Edgar Gonzalez all big leaguers, are training and will join the team shortly, while Erubiel Durazo, Vinny Castilla will do it in December.
As you know, Castilla has signed a two years contract with Washington (Expos for the moment), and he declares himself ready to play winter ball, after he signed 2005 contract.

League leader Culiacan, kept the winning pace and,beat Mochis 7-3, with rookie sensation and league leader in KO´s, Armando Aceves (4-0), and D.J Houlton taking the lost ( 0-2).
They're announcing Karim Garcia to join the team shortly and Esteban Loaiza also declared his willingness to come and pitch for the Tomato Growers team, and start tuning up for next MLB season.
Luis Ayala the Expos reliever will also join his team.

Surprising Guasave defeated Mazatlan 10-2, with japanese Tetsu Yofu (4-2) in the mound, and losing Pablo Ochoa (1-3), while Marshall McDougall (6) and Damon Minor (3) hit home runs for the Cottoneers.

Mexican pitcher great Fernando Valenzuela, improved performance in his last outing in Mazatlan, having no decision but leaving the game in advantage, created big expectations as to still having skills to pitch in this league.

Bubba set up new record in this league,becoming the first ever to acomplish twice.
He joined other 20 players who hit 3 HR´s in a game before, among them well known names such as former Angel OF Bobby Treviño, Twins great Tony Oliva,the late Mexican 3B Aurelio Rodríguez,former Twin Bob Darwin, former Phillies Peter Koegel and Larry Fritz, our greatest hitter ever Héctor Espino, Rich Guerra, former Seattle and Orioles OF Carlos López, Enrique Aguilar, Alan Cockrell, Alejandro Ortiz, Jim Wilson, Scott Brosius who don´t remember his world series winning HR with Yankees, Derrick White, Alonso Téllez, Ricardo Saenz, Panamanian slugger Julio Zulueta and lastly ;Bubba did it once again.
