Phillies Journal - 2004

by Max Blue

A new way for the game to be played;
Let’s call it a pitching parade.
Last night we used eight, today only six,
J-roll, Polanco, Abreu, and Leiby got in their licks.
It almost seemed we played unafraid.

Sunday, September 19, 2004. The windy Bank.
Philadelphia – 7, Montreal – 2.

With nothing to lose and little to gain
The Fightins could probably win in the rain
The parade of pitchers give hitters a pain
Weird, with the season gone down the drain...

Meanwhile sports continue to dominate.
The tube, the papers, the mags that ruminate
The triumphs and losses of tackles and tosses
Of baseballs and footballs and tailgate hot sauces...
