Negro League news: Public invited to dedication

The public is invited to an important Negro League Baseball event, scheduled to take place at Chicago Burr Oak Cemetery on Sunday, September 26.

The cemetery, along with members of the Society of American Baseball Research, is hosting a memorial dedication ceremony for three Negro Leaguers greats – Jimmie Crutchfield, John Donaldson and "Candy Jim" Taylor. All three have rested at the cemetery for years in unmarked graves.

Many noted African Americans are interred at Chicago Burr Oak Cemetery. Perpetua Inc., its parent company, has plans to break ground in 2005 for the Emmett Till Historical Museum and Mausoleum that will highlight the rich history and heritage at Chicago Burr Oak Cemetery.
