METS SWEEP

The Mets had our number all season.
Not this time, and here is the reason:
Mets in a free-falling slump- nine straight losses.
Phils starting pitching the trump- three great tosses.
Whatever. The result was most pleasin’.

Sunday, September 5, 2004. The happy Bank, Philadelphia.
Philadelphia – 4, New York Mets – 2. Myers beats Trachsel.

Two dingers in one inning
Is a sure way to keep winning
When Wagner lets a quick one fly
The happy Phils of early July
Come to mind with every bounce and spin...
Of the excitement that might have been.
As back to 500 we finally climb...
Perhaps another place and time
Will find us perched atop the heap...
Instead of dozing off to sleep...
Amidst the pack of also rans...
Lets hear it for our faithful fans...
