As Play Offs continues, Saltillo are profiling their way to next play offs series, as they beat Laguna again to post a solid advantage of 3-0, while Tijuana and Monterrey are 2-2 and Puebla and Aguascalientes still 2-0 in favor of Parrots dued to rain delays in two consecutive gamedays.
In the south,Mexico City is leading 3-1 to Yucatan,Campeche 2-1 over Tabasco and Tigers 3-1 over Oaxaca.

In yesterday´s results, in the best game Tijuana beats Monterrey 3-1 thanks to a walk off 2 runs HR by Venezuelan Luis Landaeta, to untied, the game previously tied after Derrick´White´s RBI.
It was a closed game and a pitchers scorless duel by starters Jesus Olague and Alonso Beltrá, Vicente Palacios in relief to Beltran got a HR in the 7th by Heber Gomez, and remained 1-0 up until the 9th when Tijuana scored 3 runs to got the win.David Cortes ,former Atlatnta Brave got the victory, and Miguel Rubio,the loss.

In Puebla, the Tigers took on Oaxaca again by score of 3-2 supported on a 9 th inning RBI single by Sergio Contreras, to drive in the winning run scored by Luis Carlos Garcia, who also hit a HR.
Reliever Santos Hernandez,the winner and David Sinohui, the loser.So, now Tigers are one game shy to advance to next games.

In Torreon, one of the favorites to get the championship, the Saltillo Sarape Makers, took on the Cowboys 9-7, supported offensively by two round trippers, one by Jayson Bass and another by 3b Manuel Velz, his second in the series.
Both teams used as many as 6 pitchers , trying to obtain this important game, as Pascual Coco started for Saltillo and Hipolito Pichardo getting the save, both dominicans and very familiar names for baseball fans.

In Tabasco, Campeche got the win 5-1 over host team, counting on Danny McGee´s pitching, and Former Expo Tavo Alvatez took the loss, while in Merida, the Red Devils won 2-1 over the Lions and as a result of solid pitching by starter Claudio Moreno, and Victor Bojorques HR.
Isabel Giron ,the loser and catcher Said Gutierrez hit a HR by Yucatan.

Never before, this year the league changed its playing format, going into two halfs, scoring points by positions (8 to first place, and down), and qualified those best 12 teams.
The intention was, to allow more competition in getting more teams involved in play offs.
With this the season will end in August ,anyway as in the past.

When did the Mexican League go to a shorter season? I remember that the season used to go into July with playoffs starting in late July and ending in early August.
