Japan Baseball News: Hawks Play See-Saw with Buffaloes

Fukuoka Daiei Hawks 8 - Seibu Lions 2:
Tsuyoshi Wada pitched a seven hit, eight strikeout complete game to tame the Lions at Seibu Dome.
Pedro Valdes launched a fourth inning three-run homer to help the Hawks back into first place.
Orix BlueWave 4 – Kintetsu Buffaloes 0:
Mac Suzuki struck out five batters allowing no runs and six hits in seven innings for his first NPB win.
Shinichi Kato fired an errant throw to home plate that allowed two runs to come in for the BlueWave.
Kato and Roosevelt Brown were thrown out of the game when both teams took the field in a brawl after Brown jarred Kato at the plate on that play.
Tasuya Shindo hit a two-run homer for Orix at Osaka Dome.
Chiba Lotte Marines 2 – Nippon Ham Fighters 1:
Koichi Hori drove in the winning run on a bottom of the ninth inning single at Chiba Marine Stadium.
Hanshin Tigers 7 - Chunichi Dragons 4:
The Tigers overcame a 4-2 Dragon lead in the seventh inning for the victory at Fukui Stadium.
Kei Igawa (8-3) got the win yielding eight hits and striking out six batters in seven innings.
Yomiuri Giants 9 - Yakult Swallows 6:The Giants drove in five runs in the second inning to cage the Swallows at Tokyo Dome.
The fifth inning saw Tomohiro Nioka blast a three-run homer and Yoshinobu Takahashi lift a solo home run.
Hiroshima Carp 5 - Yokohama BayStars 4:
Takahiro Arai RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Carp its sixth “sayonara” win of 2003.
News:
Japan will participate in the five game Japan-U.S. Collegiate baseball series that was origanally scheduled for the end of June.
Dates for series that was cancelled by the Japan University Baseball Federation due to terrorist concerns have not been determined.
