Osaka Kintetesu Buffaloes 11 - Nippon Ham Fighters 10:
Tuffy Rhodes hit a home run to tie the game with two out in the ninth and a "sayonara" home run in the eleventh inning to beat the Fighters at Osaka Dome.
Naoyuki Omura blasted a grand slam in the fifth inning and Daisuke Masuda hit a three-run homer in the eighth.
Kintetsu and Nippon combined for a total of nine home runs in the game.
Fukuoka Daiei Hawks 7 - Chiba Lotte Marines 6:
Yusuke Torigoe hit a single in the bottom of the ninth to slip the Hawks past the Marines at Fukuoka Dome.
Tadahito Iguchi hit 3-for-4 and two RBIs.
Hawks starting pitcher Hayato Terahara gave up five runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Seibu Lions 10 - Orix BlueWave 1:
Koji Mitsui pitched a 11 strikeout 134 pitch complete game win over the BlueWave at Seibu Dome.
Mitsui (5-0) gave up one run on Takashi Miwa's home run in the ninth but allowed only five hits for his fifth straight victory.
Hiroyuki Shibata, Taisei Takagi and Hiroyuki Takagi
hit home runs for to help Seibu's fifth consecutive win.
The Lions drove in seven runs in the sixth inning including Hiroyuki Takagi's three-run homer.
Satoshi Tokumoto (1-2) gave up five earned runs to get the loss.
News
The two NPB league offices announced that 2003 average attendance was down from a comparable time last year: down 2.9% in the Central League and down 6.1% in the Pacific League.
Central League attendance from the March to the May 1 averaged 31,438 per game and 21,600 for the Pacific League.
