Makoto Gida 1 Brother Elephants 7
The Brother Elephants scored four times in the eighth inning to pull away to a 7-1 victory over the Makoto Gida last night in front of 2,283 onlookers at Shingcung.
Right fielder Chin Jeh Lee went 2-for-4 with one RBI to lead the Elephants, who now trail the Gida in the season series 4-1.
The Elephants have struggled most of the season but they won to improve to 7-13-1 and avoid the Chinese Professional Baseball League cellar. Shin Nakagomi salted it away with his second save of the year.
Gida starter Rho-hui Feng pitched six innings, giving up three runs, two earned, but lost the game to drop to 0-1-0.
Designated hitter Chin-yi Cheng, the hero in the 7-5 win by the Gida two nights earlier, went 2-for-4 last night. The Gida fell to 7-14-0.
