Phillies Journal - 2007

by Max Blue

Adam Eaton a rocky start,
that close to falling apart.
He dug in and hung in to finish six,
Phils found their rally sticks;
who says this team has no heart?

In the seventh Denver sky fell on the field,
ground crew overwhelmed with wind, forced to yield.
Phillies’ team rushed to help out,
it’s what life’s all about.
Phils’ good-guys image sealed.

Sunday, July 8, 2007. Coors Field, Denver, Colorado.
Philadelphia – 8, Colorado – 4.
WP – Eaton (8-5), LP – Cook (5-6).
S – Madson (1).
HR – Matsui (3), 1st, 0 on, 1 out; Helton (8), 3rd, 0 on, 0 out.
Burrell (11), 4th, 0 on, 0 out; Victorino (11), 7th, 1 on, 1 out.

Where were the Rockies when the Heavens parted...
Shortly after the game got started...
Cloud it be, down 0 to 3
They didn't really want to see
The game go on to its conclusion...
The thought of winning was an illusion...
Better to stop and start from zero
Erase the 3 and find a hero...
