MOYER THE MAGNIFICENT

Jamie Moyer faced the Fish knowing well his task:
cool down their bats, no need to ask.
In the previous two, 16 runs, 32 hits;
every Fish smash avoids Phillies’ mits.
His answer: a seven-inning no-hitter bask.

Hang on here, this guy’s 44-years-old,
at least, by Phils’ management, that’s what we’re told.
Most of the Fish could be his sons;
his lesson to them: unload your guns.
To young Phillies: be steadfast and bold.
(Oh, and learn to change speeds).

April 29, 2007. Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia – 6, Florida – 1.
WP – Moyer (3-1), LP – Obermueller (1-1).
Hold – Myers (2).
