An investigative committee revealed that the Seibu Lions paid the equivalent of more than $1 million (in total) to 170 managers and others affiliated with amateur baseball over a 27 year span (from the team's inception in 1978 through 2005) for helping pro teams acquire new players.
The Lions also engaged in other improper financial conduct.
