Women's Baseball News: Chicago Gems/MSL Women's Division Inaugural Season

Admit it. Sometimes you watch "A League of Their Own" and think, "I wish it were the forties, and the Rockford Peaches really did exist. I would be so good at that!"

Well ladies, this is your chance to prove it. And you won't even have to wear that silly skirt.

This spring, the Chicago Gems will undergo a complete makeover and re-emerge as the first ever WOMEN'S BASEBALL LEAGUE! (Well, first that we know of... in our lifetimes... in this immediate area.) Point is, we're trying to start something big here, and we want you to be a part of it. We're teaming up with the Midwest Suburban League (MSL) http://www.midwestsuburbanleague.com, which runs a number of local men's teams. They're not going to take us over or patronize us or anything like that. They're just helping us get this off the ground, and for that we're very grateful.

Well be playing 11 games on Saturday or Sundays in June, July and August. (Yes, we go to 11.) Well be playing real baseball on a full-sized field with stealing and metal cleats and everything.

Does this sound like something you want to do? Great! Email us at 2007season@chicagogems.com and get on our mailing list.

Need more info? Check out our FAQ - http://www.chicagogems.com/faq/faq07.htm.

Want to get ready for the season? Join us at our practices. (Here's the link http://www.chicagogems.com/schedules/winter07.htm). Its like spring training, except were indoors in Chicago, not outdoors in Florida or Arizona, but its baseball and its fun, so come out an play.
