Phillies Journal - 2006

by Max Blue

Phils survived two ninth inning errors
to at last escape Houston’s Minute Maid Park terrors.
Pat Burrell, at long last a game-winning blow,
in the first inning, to dampen the Roger Clemens show.
Tip the cap to Myers and Gordon, the gritty good-news bearers.

Friday, September 15, 2006. Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas.
Philadelphia – 4, Houston – 3.
WP – Myers (11-6), save – Gordon (30). LP – Clemens (6-5).
HR – Ensberg (22), Scott (6).
Burrell (25 – GS).

We tried our best to give it away...
By stumbling and fumbling and trying to fall...
But the Gods of the game finally had their say...
They're doing their best to give us a call...
