Phillies Journal - 2006

by Max Blue

It’s said Brett Myers is Phils’ stopper.
Last night the horse came a cropper.
In the seventh Phils fought back from four down
when Utley and Burrell went to town.
But Cormier turned into a flopper.

June 9, 2006. RFK Stadium, Washington, D.C.
Washington – 9, Philadelphia – 8 (12 innings).
WP – Cordero (2-1). LP – Condrey (1-1) Blown save – Cormier.
HR – Howard (22), Utley (12), Burrell (15).

Took one to the gut...
Put us six games back...
So it's back to the hut...
to find what we lack...
To string 'em together...
And see about whether...
We can collar the Mets...
Place your bets !!!
