Japanese Baseball News: Obermueller Signs with Orix

Obermueller signs with the Buffaloes

By Glenn Davies,Tokyo Japan.

Former Brewers starter Wes Obermueller signed with the Orix Buffaloes on Monday for the 2006 season. Orix starting pitching has been a concern outside of former major leaguer and Japan star Masato Yoshii. The Buffaloes are currently  fourth and flirting with .500 and will be looking for Obermueller to strengthen the rotation to help Orix stay in the fight for a playoff spot.Obermueller started out with the Royals in 2002 going 0-2 in 2 starts. He then went to Milwaukee and went 9-17  in three years as a starter. Obermueller then went to Atlanta as part of the trade that
saw former Brewers closer  Dan Kolb return to Milwaukee. Obermueller was unable to make the Braves roster after spring training and will be a welcome addition to the Buffaloes.
