By Glenn Davies

Japan got back into the running for a semi-finals spot at the World Baseball Classic with a strong 6-1 win over Mexico today.Seibu Ace Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched a one hit, five inning gem to get his second win of the tournament. All but one of the Japanese position players got a hit or more in the game with Satozaki providing the power with a 2-run HR. Japan now needs to beat Korea on Wednesday to put itself in with a mathematical chance of getting to the semis.

Former Mets/Dodgers starter Kazuhisa Ishii pitched well in an exhibition win against Orix yesterday. Yakult beat the Buffaloes 8-0 and Ishii pitched five innings giving up only 2 hits and no runs. Player/Manager Furtuta will be thrilled that Ishii looked sharp as a great deal of speculation surrounded the once deadly pitcher after four fairly average years in the majors.
