Closer Marc Kroon of the Yokohama Baystars looks to be on top form already with a nine pitch inning of work in an intrasquad game on wednesday. Kroon hit the radar gun at 150km/hr and recorded two strikeouts.Kroon went 3-2 with 26 saves and a 2.70 in 2006.

Takeshi Toritani of the Hanshin Tigers has been showing early form in the Tigers camp this week. In his last five spring training starts he has gone .429 hit 2 homers and knocked in 6 RBIs. Toritani who ususally bats second for the 2005 champions, has yet to fufill pre-draft promise (drafted in 2004) and batted .278 9HR and 52RBIs in 2005. The main focus for Toritani will be creating more RBI opportunities for Kanemoto and Imaoka by improving his average and on base percentage.

Yakult Swallows Hirotoshi Ishii wont be off to the majors in 2006. The closer went 4-3 with 37 saves and a 1.95 ERA in 61 games in the 2005 season and had requested a move to the major leagues through the posting system earlier in the offseason.The request had been rejected and after talks with club officials signed a one year deal for 150 million yen plus performance incentives(USD$1.2 million).
