PHILS STUMBLE

Roy Ostwalt and John Lieber duked it out.
Clear to see what this game’s all about.
Biggio and Howard’s circuit clouts
brought the crowd to their feet with loud shouts.

In the eighth tied at one Rollins hooked a liner tight to the line in right,
it rolled to the wall, looked like he could run all night.
But strange things happen to the Phils in this pennant race,
Rollins stumbled rounding first and missed the base.
Then after 18 shutout innings Billy Wagner gave up a run – not a pretty sight.

September 6, 2005. Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA.
Houston – 2, Philadelphia – 1.

Stumbling
Bunbling
Leave the fans mumbling...
We can't win the close ones...
Where are our big guns ?
When we need them most
Like dried up toast
they crumble on touch
and turn to crumbs in the clutch...
