CAPITAL LOSS

In the 9th Howard and Bell homered to tie,
Phils sputtered and coughed to a 12th inning die.
Nats won on a broken bat fluke,
just as good as a 500-foot nuke.
You get no points for a good try.

September 4, 2005. RFK Stadium, Washington, D.C,
Washington – 5, Philadelphia – 4 (12 innings).

Sunday evening...

Champs one day, chumps the next...
Seem,s the Fightin's game is hexed...
'Bout the time they think they know how to win
they turn around and take two on the chin...

Lets hope they do better than split the games even
Cause if they do they better start leavin
town for the winter and thoughts that begin
with the time worn phrase "what might have been..."
