PHILLIES BEAT TREVOR HOFFMAN

Trevor Hoffman came into a ninth inning 1-1 tie.
Abreu, Burrell, and Howard slugged hits, my oh my.
Padilla pitched seven super innings,
Urbina denied him his winnings,
Are Phillies a team that won’t die?

August 13, 2005. PETCO Park, San Diego, California.
Philadelphia – 5, San Diego – 2

SAN DIEGO SWEEP

Sorry Padre’s fans, read ‘em and weep,
Phils post a six-game season sweep.
Utley, Burrell, and Howard drove in the scores,
Robinson Tejeda’s stock once more soars.
The road to the top just got less steep.

August 14, 2005. PETCO Park, San Diego, California.
Philadelphia – 8, San Diego – 3.

Home again, home again jiggity jog
Five out of six while battling the smog...
Now here come the Nats for a critical four
Followed by Pirates, who could ask for more...

Bouyed by a hot streak the previos week
and a raucous home crowd we're ready to seek...
A race for the top spot in the wild card chase...
Six more of seven should state a strong case...
