TAPPED

With all due respect to Jeff Geary,
A loss like this makes me weary.
Lidle and Sheets duked it out-
Good pitching – what the game’s all about.
Dear God, it’s hard to be cheery.

August 5, 2005. Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA.
Milwaukee – 3, Philadelphia – 1 (10 innings)

Abreu hits 20th homerun – third player in Major League
history to have twenty HRs and twenty stolen bases in
six consecutive seasons. Bobby and Barry Bonds were the
others.

Once upon a midnight weary
Came a couple off of Geary...
Lack of focus and Little league tosses
May have started a string of losses...

Boys go wacky at critical places,
not the way in pennant races...
Good teams do not do that stuff.
When the play is needed they play tough...
