07/27/2005 Archived Entry: "Mexican League News : Tijuana´s combined "No-No " To Saltillo"

ALONSO BELTRAN, JULIO CESAR PARRA, ADOLFO DELFIN and closer ANDY SHIBILO combined to throw the 4th ever No hit No Run game in the league´s history, by defeating Saltillo Sarape Makers b5 5-0 counting with GEORGE ARIA´s suport , who homered twice (23) and drove 4 runs in to lead Colts attack off losing pitcher JOSE MERCEDES (5-7).
Beltran ( 8-6) the winner, went 6 inning, letting the remaining inning attended by his teammates.
It was back in 1979 when the last combined no - no were pitched by Saltillo pitching off Juarez Indians.
This game was the jewel of the crown, and Tijuana still holding th league´s top position for this second round, in their way to make it in first place to the play offs.

MEXICAN LEAGUE BITS;

Saltillo OF, MARIO VALENZUELA tied the league record by hitting most HR´s in 6 consecutive games ,with 8 now shared with the late HECTOR ESPINO who did it back in 1969 and with IZZY ALCANTARA who accomplished this too back in 2004.

With only two more games left to finish this season, two Tigers fight fot he league´s batting tittle. JAVIER ROBLES (.386) and JORGE VAZQUEZ (.380) who is also looking fot the HR title with 33, two shots shy of leader ROBERTO SAUCEDO (MXC) who has 35.

WILLIS OTAÑEZ looks like a sure leader for RBI title with 123, meanwhile in pitching FRANCISCO CAMPOS leads in ERA (2.84) and in K´s (150) while ERICK KNOTT leads in winning average (14-4).
