Did somebody mention a race?
Phils fell another game off the pace.
Kip Wells threw all blanks,
Phils offense creaks and clanks,
Mets lost, we stayed out of last place.

We're beginning to feel
like a mouse in a wheel.
Running to nowhere
with no time to spare...
A Dozen plated one day
a dozen K's the next...
A thrill a minute some say...
Others, "the train is wrecked"
A long way to go
and a short time to get there.
Without a big show
the road leads to nowhere...
