07/05/2005 Archived Entry: "Mexican Leagues News : Winter League starting to Warm Up"

Mexican Pacific League in their way to the next season, celebrated their annual draft last week, in which several players were released, and other were chosen trhough a draft to join their new teams.
Draft is performed annually to pick up players ,as per the folllowing rules.
1.- Selecting native first sign players, this includes roolkies coming out of the Mexican League Academy, as well as players playing in any domestic professional leagues, who had never in Mexican Pacific League before.
2.-Foreign players,playing in Mexican League, not currently under contract with any MexPac team, in regardless of previous playing background, for Example George Arias used to play in the winter before, but today playing for Tijuana Colts in Mexican League was into the draft.
3.-Foreign players playing either for the first time or comebacker without winter leagues contracts, in any caribbean team.
4.- Natives playing in the USA minor leagues, among these IF RAMIRO PEÑA Academy # 1 draft pick and signed by the New York Yankees were chosen by Culiacan.
By ther same token, teams are allowed to activate or deactivate players from their rosters in a way to start modeling rosters for the next season.
