Phillies Journal - 2005
by Max Blue

Pat Burrell whiffed four straight times.
He should be jailed for baseball crimes.
Three times the Bravos went deep,
causing five million people to weep,
and Max Blue to suffer with rhymes.

July 1, 2005. Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, PA.

Atlanta 9, Philadelphia 1.

Now they tell us. Jim Thome has been suffering from
right elbow tendonitis for a month. He goes on the DL
and Ryan Howard is called up from Scranton-Wilkes Barre.

When the eptness is in
'Twood be a great sin
To desert a fan who has been
Loyal through thick and thin !!!

The bats are a mess
and the pitching is less
except for a few
who gamely come through.

With plays and base hits
that give others the fits.
But it's hard to be "weiners"
'gainst Smoltz and Martinez...

(sorry, it's the best I could come up with)
