EVEN ABREU

Bobby Abreu looked out on the scene,
Wouldn’t a grand slam be keen?
The ninth and the team down by four,
He could do it, he’d done it before.

Endy Chavez had wiggled a walk,
Bases loaded, no time for talk.
Abreu stepped in with a smile,
His goal was to hit one a mile.

Jasen Isringhausen went to his hook
Three straight is all that it took.
Abreu went down flailing.
Can we blame him for failing?

May 19, 2005. The Bank.
St. Louis – 8, Philadelphia - 4

No joy in Mudville
Or the city called Phil
When the red hot Bobby stepped to the bat
With all the bases full and fat
With three mighty swishes and nary a shout
The mighty Bobby has struck out...
