Yankees are in Last

The sound of that headline brings a smile to my face. The thought that Steinbrenner is sitting on a perch somewhere contemplating what he can do or how much more he could spend to guarantee himself a World Series, is breath of cool fresh air after walking out of the sauna from a good sweat. Ahhhhhhhh…. Refreshing! If it wasn’t for Colorado, the Yankees would be the worst team in baseball.

As for real professional baseball, the Texas Rangers held on to their lead to pull out a victory. In the first inning, the Rangers put up 4 runs on a Blalock two-run homer and a Dave Dellucci triple that scored Young and Mench. A 2nd inning Michael Young homer added two more and that’s all they’d need. Toronto put up five over the next few innings but fell short in the end. The final was Texas 6-5.

KC had their young stud on the mound, Hernandez was 2-0 against the Tigers and their prospects looked good, however the Tigers had different thoughts. Pudge was a one man wrecking crew. He drove in three, scored twice, and had one long ball. Detroit won 6-1.

Until today, the White Sox have owned Seattle, taking 8 straight from the Mariners. Today looked like more of the same with Freddy Garcia on the mound. The two teams exchanged blows right from the get go. Ichiro homered to lead off the game and give Seattle the early lead. In the end, the Mariners would win by a score of 5-4.

Pittsburgh lost to the Cubs 4-2. St Louis beat Milwaukee 3-2.
