Mets use three run seventh to win 4-3 over Houston; Astros strand twelve on basepaths
by Trent Harrison

Houston, what the hell is the problem. The Astros seemed to do everything right Thursday night but win the ballgame. They collected ten hits, with four players with at least two hits, got decent pitching from rookie Brandon Backe(6 1/3 IP, 5H, 3ER, 4K), they just left to many runners out on the bases.
For the Mets, nobody really stood out performance wise, it was just a solid team effort in capitalizing whenever the opportunity arose. I think Willie is starting to have an effect on this ballclub. Good base-running and timley hitting came into play as the Mets swept the Astros in three.
The Mets will have their hands full as the fireballer Josh Beckett and the Florida Marlins come to town this weekend, while the Astros will lick their wounds and head down to Cincinnati fo a weekend series with the Reds. Go get'em Willie, this town could use another ball team to talk about.
