Finally, there are people in Washington that the rest of the nation can be proud of. Nationals take a 5-4 win over Phillies in the 10th. By Trent Harrison

And you people wanted these guys to stay in Puerto Rico. The Washington Nationals started the season with a 2 and 1 series victory over the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday when Jose Vidro sent on out of the park in teh top half of the 10th of reliever Rheal Cormier. Brad Wilkerson is continuing his hot hitting by collecting four more hits, and Jose Guillen added two himself. The starters for the game, Esteban Loaiza( 6 2/3 in., 5H, 4ER, 3BB, 4K) and Randy Wolf( 6in., 8H, 3ER, 1BB, 6K), threw what is probably expected out of these two, showing at times some very good control on each's behalf. For the Phillies offense, Pat Burrell plated two more RBI's(6 total for the season) and another hit while Placido Polanco went 2-5. On tap for these two this weekend has the Phillies going to St Louis and the upstart Nationals going down to Florida.
Other scores to round out Thursday's action: Cincinnati 6-NY Mets 1, San Diego 1- Pittsburgh 0(12 in.), Dodgers 6- San Francisco 0, Oakland 5- Baltimore 1, Angels 7- Texas 6.
