BIG HIT

At long last a big hit from Thome;
His failures had started to throw me.
A three-run 8th inning game-winner
Helps ease the pain from the earlier hit sinner.
Twenty four games left to show me.

Wednesday, September, 8, 2004. Turner Field Atlanta, Georgia
Philadelphia – 5, Atlanta – 3.

TAKE TWO

It’s hard to beat the Braves once never mind twice.
But last night the Phils locked on a vice.
Gavin Floyd and the bullpen
Shut down their top men
Oh my, but the feeling is nice.

Wednesday, September 8, 2004. Turner Field
Philadelphia – 4, Atlanta – 1.

To win two
What you have to do
Is tighten down the screw
Of the Pen, which threw and threw...

Bowa says "I knew we could do it"
We just have to will it
With relievers who came in and threw it
And hitters who came out of their billets
To flatten the Braves like a blow from a skillet
