OXPRING FOR A MEDAL

Chris Oxpring is from Labrador, Australia. He is a top-rated right-handed pitching prospect in the San Diego Padres farm system, currently on leave from the Portland Beavers in the AAA Pacific Coast League. In his last start he blanked Italy on one hit for eight innings. He will face top-seeded Japan today in the medal round.

Final Round Robin Standings:

Japan 6-1 (lost to Australia 9-4)
Cuba 6-1 (lost to Japan 6-3)
Canada 5-2 (lost to Cuba and Japan)
Australia 4-3 (lost to Cuba, Canada, and Taiwan)
